Single player leaderboard not updating after 1st gold
Firstly, I have the PC version of the game, retail, not steam. I have no patches, as the only patch I can find for the PC retail is for a sound fix.
Single player leaderboards are not updating for me once I receive the gold medal in the respective challenge. Once that gold medal is received, the leaderboard locks the score, and will never update it even if I do the same challenge and earn a higher score. I have no idea whats going on, and as my scores are not being updated, there seems little point to play levels over again to trying and get a higher score.
I have nothing installed on top of Defense Grid.
Also, how do I view public leaderboards, or is that only for the Xbox version?

On the retail PC version, the leaderboards there are local and show the highest score per account for that board. The goal there allowing mutiple people who play the game on the same PC to compare their scores.
The retail game also comes with a Steam code on the back of the manual which allows you to instead install the Steam version of the game that connects to online leaderboards and shows how you would rate compared to all of the other players.
Some people wanted a no-DRM, completely offline version of the game and that's what we put on the retail disc. We also didn't want people to buy the game who did want the online features such as stats, online leaderboards, friends leaderboards, etc. to be left out if they purchased the retail game, so that's why we included the Steam code.
So as a retail purchaser you really received two different Defense Grid versions for the price of one and you can decide to install either or both of them as you see fit.
There are differences though because of Steam and it's security measures so the two versions do not share data or save game info unfortunately.
