Defense Grid

By now, you likely know what took place.  The update we put on Steam only partially downloaded to players from Friday through Tuesday, and for some people they just lost audio, for other people the game didn't work at all. 

The fact that anything worked at all  is surprising since you had some files from one version of the game mixed with files from the latest version of the game.

Additionally, we did a couple of things we shouldn't have done - first we put out the update on a Friday - a true no-no that we should have avoided as we have in the past, but we were simply too confident that this update was benign and was going to be a positive experience.

Secondly, we at the last minute got the opportuntiy to show Defense Grid XBLA at Comic-Con in San Diego over the weekend and we were AFK for most of the time until Tuesday.

Two wrongs - don't release on Friday and then don't live offline for the days that follow. 

For those two things I greatly apologize on behalf of Hidden Path Entertainment.

Fortunately, the fix was quickly determined (people weren't getting all of the update) and remedied (full update now downloading) on Tuesday, and all should be good in the world now (including world peace I've been told).

Thanks so much for your patience and support through this.  We screwed up, but hopefully now you have a better game experience.

Hi, I fixed the problem, by just installed the "Service Pack 3" for Windows XP Now, the Sound is running again. Thank you guys for this great game!!! greets from Germany Matthias

Haven't played the game much since the sound went out. Tried updating sound drivers and disabling EAX since others have said that helps...no luck for me. Too bad... I really enjoy this game, but without the sound it's not so fun. My system: AMD Phenom 940 4 GB RAM Radeon 3850 X Fi Extreme gamer soundcard

I just beat the demo, it had sound. Paid 19.99 for new game, it came with out sound. Can I play the demo on one computer and the purchased version on another computer and at least pretend its the same sound? I have quite a good imagination, you see, but listing to my computer humming in a quite room while playing defense grid is just not very fun.

now get the !!!! back to work, and push out a fix for the broken code you pushed out before the weekend, leaving apparently every single one of your customers with a game with zero audio. nice job killing all your customer goodwill. companies that pull crap like this don't get repeat customers.

Vista 32bit, realtec audio, worked fine before.

When will it be fixed?

I am yet another pissed off customer who lost sound after purchasing the full version of Defensive Grid: The Awakening on Steam. Hidden Path: Wake up! Your customers are pissed off! All other games' sound works absolutely perfectly except for yours! DO SOMETHING TO FIX THIS NOW! Good luck getting me to buy another one of your games in the future if you don't fix this within 24 hours.

Okay, so you guys didn't do proper testing and pushed out a failed update. Fine. If you are not going to work 24 hours a day to fix this, you need to work with steam and roll back the update. Even if a fix is a manual process, we need information. Steam's official response is the following:

My GCF's verify fine, and I even did a re-install. Hidden Path either needs to work with it's partner (Steam) and roll back this horribly broken update or they need to promptly push out another update that fixes this issue. This game is fun, but I'm horrified that this code left any sort of QA with completely broken sound.
