Great Game - Sad things happen though

I don't want to be a somekind of douche person, but common;

These are website where you can download the game for free. Sadly people can not bring up 20 bucks to buy the game.

Soooo xniax1, why don't you just steal your gas and drive off with it. Why don't you just steal the next car you see running with the keys in it with nobody in it (warming up or whatever)... there's no difference. I don't even condone pirating to trial a game. Albeit I won't say I haven't tried it. I am a hard working individual, as are those that make these games. To have someone pirate it no different than someone siphoning money out of your bank account little by little. Regardless of your profession and what product you make, it's selfish, plain and simple. If you say "it's just a game" then you're an idiot. It takes a lot of time and talent to bring you this "game". If you can't afford it, it doesn't make it right to steal it. Get a job and save your money. I guess I'll just walk into your mom's basement next time you're out and take your computer since it's only just a "computer".

never ceases to amaze me how quickly and indiscriminately games make it to these sites. I hope their computers get hit with a virus and die.

It does hurt of course to have dozens of people spend a year of their lives working hard to put something together, to really try to make something special, and then have a group of people enjoy it, but not support the people who made it.

 

I'm definitely not trying to start an argument about piracy - we all know what it is, that it isn't going away, and that there is little one can do.  It just is surprising to us to live through it and be directly affected by it.

Well only if you knew how to download free games you wouldn't be here saying such things. free games are amazing, they all should be free, they are GAMES. Company's like hidden path are groups of people from a huge company like or blizzard that wanna try to make a little extra by building games like Defense Grid and expect people to pay for them. Your telling me that if you can get free Gas for your cars you would ask why you get free gas and it isn't right? come on dude

That's a joke right? You are confused and deluding your self. People have to work so they can pay their own bills. Don't you pay your way in life for your services? Would you give away your work for free? Things don't work that way and you wouldn't support it if somebody was stealing your work. How about I come to your house and steal all of your electronics and jewelry? Why not? I could get away with it if I could find out where you live and no one saw me. Or maybe if you leave your car unlocked one day I can just take it. Drive it for a bit... maybe drive it off a cliff. Why not? It's fair. You left it unlocked. Why wouldn't I?

I can understand pirating if you just want to try out the game. I can understand pirating if you simply don't think the game is worth 60 bucks for a 5hour experience. I can even understand pirating if you have no means whatsoever to purchase the game - cause even then, if you like the game, you'll probably buy the next one from the same developer. But your argument is simply moronic.

I can already tell that LIKED the game by simply you being here on the forums. So why wouldn't you purchase it? Cause these guys want to make money off of their work? If you like free games, play FREE games. Cause just because it's available on torrent sites doesn't make it free (doesn't make it stealing either - but still).

So go buy it and give some of your money to developers who deserve it.

I realize that I'm never

I realize that I'm never going to convince you otherwise, but let me put it this way...

 

10 of us spent probably 2000 hours each working on this game, to make it the best we could.  I gave up a comfortable job to take a huge risk starting a company with money i'd saved from my previous job.  

 

We've put years into our educations, into our experience to be able to make things that people will love.  Believe me, almost no one gets rich in the game industry.

 

You can justify it however you want, but you are not getting free gas, you are making it so those whose games you take for free can't make them anymore.

At least on the bright side, it creates additional exposure for your game. People who pirate often do so to test a game - if they like it, they might buy it. Or buy the next coming out from Hidden Path Entertainment. ;-)

Advertising warez versions on the official forums *boggled* Btw, downloading them doesn't mean you can't bring up 20 buck to buy it. Those people would never buy it, even if there were no warez. I actually bough my copy after "trying it out" though.
