Anyone else find this level more difficult than 'Waste Disposal' or 'Last Stand'?

Great game, I'm addicted.
I have lotsa’ of questions. Great game, but the manual is too concise and too succinct.
As I don’t know where to start with my questions, I’ll ignore them and instead comment in response to the blog entry that suggests ‘Waste Disposal’ and ‘Last Stand’ as the hardest levels.
I’m new to Tower Defence games, however I didn’t find it overly challenging to complete. Unsuprising ‘Last Stand’ was the level that took me the most attempts to complete. I had a couple of attempts at ‘Waste Disposal’ in order to figure out the layout of the map, but there were plenty of other levels that I found more of a struggle
Defense Grid has good replayabilty. Now that I’ve completed each level, I want to complete each level perfectly. I’m not interested in the absolute best score, which may require unfun amounts of faffing around. My definition of the perfect level is to keep all cores and kill all aliens.
I started from the end; so ‘Last Stand’ first. I have now completed back to ‘Crossed Signals’. I’m finding it very tricky to achieve my definition of perfection here.
Please no hints, or tip’s - I’ll figure it out eventually. Just curious do others also find it tough to keep all cores on this level?

I agree. It's definetly hard
Not too easy
I completed the "Crossed Signals" Story Mission on my first try if I recall correctly. It took me however 3-5 tries to figure out how to complete it on Gold - it was pretty easy once I found out what to do.
Getting a high rank, though.... Heh. Haven't managed to beat the rank 100 barrier yet on that level.
